Now that you know there isn’t just one form of magnesium, the next question is…

Why magnesium chloride? Simply put, because we were creating a topical spray.

While forms like glycinate and citrate are commonly taken as oral supplements, magnesium chloride has become the most widely used form for topical sprays and magnesium baths.

When mixed with water, it creates what many people call magnesium oil (one of my pet peeves) There isn’t actually any oil in it. It is a mineral not an oil. It simply has a smooth, silky feel on the skin.

Many people use magnesium chloride sprays as part of their evening routine after long days, time in the garden, workouts, or simply when they need a quiet moment to unwind. While research is still exploring exactly how much magnesium is absorbed through the skin, many people enjoy the ritual and how it leaves their skin and muscles feeling afterward.

For us, choosing magnesium chloride was only part of the story. Quality mattered just as much.

Our magnesium chloride is sourced from the Dead Sea, one of the world’s most mineral-rich bodies of water. It’s long been recognized for its naturally high mineral content, and we wanted to begin with an ingredient we felt confident putting into every bottle.

Then we paired it with something even closer to home.

Our own hydrosols. Lavender harvested at summer’s peak. Chamomile gathered by hand. Rosemary slowly distilled in our copper still beside Cedar, Catnip and Frankincense.

Because we believe the ingredients surrounding the magnesium matters. At Copper Barrel, we don’t chase trends or pack a label with ingredients simply because they’re popular.

We start with thoughtfully sourced magnesium chloride, pair it with botanical waters we’ve crafted ourselves, and make each batch by hand in small quantities.

That’s the difference you’ll find in every bottle.
