Tallow Balm
Old-school skin wisdom meets slow-crafted care.
You’ve been asking, and she’s finally here — Tallow Balm. While tallow is currently having its "trending" moment, if you’ve been part of this community for a while, you already know how I feel: I don’t personally recommend tallow for facial use, as it’s a heavier oil. Though many swear by it, I tend to lean toward lighter, nutrient-rich seed oils with more supportive science behind them. You know how I love my oils.
I know tallow has been used for centuries, and yes, there’s wisdom in that. But we also have so much more data and experience now — particularly around gentler, plant-based oils that offer a broader range of nutrients and benefits for the skin. As a herbalist, I can’t ignore how trendy ingredients can sometimes overshadow equally (or more) beneficial alternatives. So while I’m proud of this formulation — and its simplicity, quality, and effectiveness — I also encourage thoughtful use and an open mind to the wider plant kingdom.
That said, if my grandmother saw this, she’d be proud to see her recipe getting used again. This balm is simple, deeply nourishing, and made with premium suet— always quality over quantity...and yes a little goes a long way. One 2oz 30g jar will last you a month if you are applying to your face.
For those who choose to use it on the face, I’ve added a microdose of neroli and frankincense essential oils, two beautiful allies known to: Calm inflammation. Support cell regeneration. Soothe stressed, reactive skin.
There is a light scent — just enough to soften the natural aroma of tallow without over-refining. Because yes, you can overly refine tallow… and when you do, you strip away its good medicine.
Suggested Use: Best for dry patches, cracked heels, minor rashes, scrapes, windburn, and other skin woes that call for deep, old-world nourishment.
Benefits: Rich in skin-compatible fatty acids and vitamins A, D, E, and K. Softens rough patches and deeply moisturizes. Naturally protective and calming to irritated skin
Please Note:This balm comes with a small wooden scoop. Because it contains no preservatives, avoid introducing water into the jar. Keep away from heat sources and know that texture may shift with temperature — tallow will naturally soften in warmth and firm up in cooler conditions. That’s part of the charm in its simplicity.
Simple Ingredients you can pronounce: Premium grass-fed tallow, jojoba oil, infused calendula, ground oatmeal, non-GMO arrowroot powder and a micro dose of frankincense & neroli essential oil.
